Long-arm Service

Some quilting projects can be completed with small, domestic machines, but those machines have their limits.

Long-arm quilting machines can take on both large and small projects by having greater space for the material being quilted. My long-arm machine can accommodate projects up to a king-size quilt.

Your longarm project service starts with an in-studio personal consultation during which we go over all aspects of your quilting project to ensure you get the quilt and the service you expect.

When I quote your quilting project, the final project cost will be based on the type of quilting and the combination of services you request. Whether you simply need long-arm quilting service and will complete all other parts of your quilt or you need all services from design and cutting to quilting and binding, Sew Quiltable can meet your quilting needs.

Types of Long-arm Quilting:

Piper Flowers

Pantograph-This is a meandering style that is quilted edge to edge without regard for the individual elements in the quilt.

Semi-Custom - This style will have all over quilting within the body of the quilt with individual treatment to one or two elements such as borders or sashing.

Custom - This style pays individual attention to all elements of the quilt, including the blocks and borders.

Other Services:

Backing - If I am preparing backing, I charge $10 per seam to seam and prepare the backing.  I  remove selvedge edges before seaming and press seams open.

Please note: Backing should be at least 4" larger than the quilt top on all four sides.  So add a total of 8 inches to the length and width of the quilt top when sizing the quilt back.

Basting service - Basting includes attaching the quilt top with the batting and backing fabric to secure it for your own machine or hand quilting.

Edge Serging - Serging eliminates loose threads and keeps the layers together so the binding application is less tedious.  Serging also keeps your raw edges intact until you are ready to bind.

Binding- Binding includes attaching the quilt top, batting, and backing edges and covering them to finish the quilt. There are multiple options when it comes to choosing how to bind a quilt and what services you want me to complete for you:

Modified Binding - This includes trimming and attaching binding by machine to the front of the quilt, and you complete the other side (straight edge only).

Full Binding - This includes trimming the quilt and attaching binding by machine to the front and back of the quilt (straight edges only).

Custom Binding - Custom binding includes trimming the quilt, attaching binding by machine to the front of the quilt and hand sewing to the back (straight edges only). Custom binding results in a more traditional, nearly hidden seam in the binding.

Watermelon Picnic Throw

Specialty Binding - Quilts with scalloped or other shaped edges requite special techniques and could vary depending on the details of the project.
